Work in Progress

Why Hello out there!

I have been feeling lately how different my life is now that I live a more healthy and active lifestyle. The one thing that may be misleading though is that it is easy. Well, it's not to say it is the hardest thing ever, but it definitely isn't easy. I know I have looked at people and thought "Wow, they totally have it together! They are so fit and healthy. They make it look so easy!". Perhaps for some out there it is easier than most, and to you I give you a great big 'air high-five', good on you! But for most people I have talked to it isn't that easy.

I will be honest, I am lazy at heart. I enjoy veggin' out on the sofa, kicking back and doing a whole lot of nothing. But, after large amounts of this type of relaxing I find myself more unhappy, anxious, stressed out and self conscious. Getting up and putting in a work out DVD, or putting on my runners and going for a jog, can take a LOT of self motivation. Though once I am outside running or sweating it up with Shaun T doing Insanity, I find myself feeling better than I do when I've sat on the sofa all night. This is not to say, veggin' on the couch is all bad, it just comes with moderation. We all deserve some time to put our feet up and relax.

We all have our idea of an active lifestyle, but whether it is sweating buckets in a Spin class, or deep breathing in a Yoga class or taking your dog for a walk, it all comes down to MOVING your body. It takes time, and constant motivation, but I challenge you if you are feeling stressed or need to blow off some steam. Instead of eating a pint of ice cream or nagging your significant other for an hour, get outside and go for a walk, go to the pool and swim some laps, call a friend and go for a bike ride, or in your living room right now do 25 jumping jack, 10 push ups and 20 crunches repeat it three times, see how you feel. Is your mind less focused on the negative, are you feeling less guilty about having dishes in the sink?

I want you all to feel better about yourselves and live a happier fuller life. So if my little bit of babble can help support you on your journey then I'm a happy camper.

Take care, and goodnight...now I am going to kick back and enjoy me some couch time guilt free- I did my workout today :)
